It is not a new concept! In fact, people have been mixing it up in kitchens for years! Which is why I feel compelled to continue to talk about this!
TWO-TONE KITCHEN!
I know you have seen them, and more than likely saved them to your Pinterest board. But for some reason many people are reluctant to move forward with this fun #design.
I LOVE DESIGNING KITCHENS! Largely because the plethora of design options that exists for this space. But also, because we all congregate in our kitchens, hello heart of the home! Kitchens are not just for cooking anymore, they host social gathering, complete kids’ homework, act as a temporary office, accommodate our fur-babies, I mean the list goes on! So, why would you not take advantage of designing your kitchen to reflect your personality?
In just about every client meeting I have thrown out the idea of a two-toned kitchen I usually get the same response; do you think it will look good? And my answer is always YES! Two-toned kitchens add your personal flare; it can be classic + sophisticated or fun + unique. Truly unlimited options!
LET'S TALK COMBO'S
Your color combos are abundant; you can choose; paint, stain, stain with glaze, finished metals, and glass. All of these can look vastly different based on the material you select, solid wood, wood veneer, laminate, metal, or acrylic. From there you have finish options; matte, semi-gloss, or high-gloss. And finally texture options; knotty, distressed, burnished, and artisan. Like I said before a plethora of options! (And I haven’t mentioned door styles) Overwhelming right? Well, that is what #PhasesofDesign is here for! To take all these options and create a kitchen that reflects YOU.
WHERE DO YOU SWITCH THINGS UP?
Your kitchen layout is a big dictator here! For most clients having the island stand apart is easiest for them to envision. Its relationship to the space is already disjoined.
But why let your creativity stop there? How about base and wall cabinets being different?
